Takeo Goda (Ryohei Suzuki) is a high school student 2 m tall and weighting more than 100 kg. He has a righteous character. The male students adore him, but female students do not like him. All of the girls Takeo likes prefer his handsome friend Makoto Sunakawa (Kentaro Sakaguchi).
One day, Takeo saves female high school student Rinko Yamato (Mei Nagano) from a pervert on train. Takeo falls in love with her at first sight. He feels Rinko likes Makoto, but Makoto isn't the one she likes. Takeo struggles to liaise between Rinko and Makoto.
Yu Akabane (Nana Komatsu) moves to a dormitory room after her father's transfer from work. She is excited that she will live in the same dorm as Takumi Shirakawa (Yudai Chiba) aka "White Prince." Yet, Haruto Kurosaki (Kento Nakajima) aka "Black Devil" kisses her as punishment for going against him. It is Yu Akabane’s first kiss. Since then, she becomes obedient to Haruto Kurosaki.
Erika Shinohara (Fumi Nikaido) is a first year of high school student. While talking to friends, she makes up a story about her "boyfriend." In reality, Erika Shinohara doesn't have a boyfriend. Erika's friends soon begin to doubt her story and Erika is also running out of lies. Erika then sees a pretty boy on the street and takes his picture discreetly. She later shows his picture to her friends as her boyfriend. The boy in the picture is Kyouya Sata (Kento Yamazaki) and happens to attend the same school as Erika. She tells Kyouya about her situation and asks him to be her pretend boyfriend. Even though Kyouya has a pretty appearance, he has a dark side.
High school student Jinta (Nijiro Murakami) is a hikikomori and lives in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. One summer day, when Jinta is absorbed in a video game, a girl suddenly appears in front of him. The girl is Jinta's childhood friend Meiko (Minami Hamabe), but it seems impossible because Meiko died on a summer day. Meiko wears the same white dress when she died, but she looks a little taller. She tells Jinta that she has a wish and that's why she came back as a ghost, but Meiko can't remember what her wish was.
To grant Meiko's wish, Jinta along with his friends Atsumu (Jun Shison), Naruko (Airi Matsui), Chiriko (Marie Iitoyo), Tetsudo (Yuta Takahata) and Meiko gather together for the first time in 7 years. Jinta soon realizes that he is the only one able to see Meiko.
Junko Sakuraba (Satomi Ishihara) dreams of working in New York, but she currently works as an English conversation teacher. She's about to have her 29th birthday. Junko Sakuraba works hard to achieve her dream, but New York seem far away. She has also not dated in a long time.
Junko Sakuraba attends a funeral held at a temple. During the funeral, she makes a mistake and throws ashes onto a monk chanting a sutra. She feels apologetic and embarrassment.
Later, Junko Sakuraba's family deceives her into going on a blind date. The man she meets on the blind date is Takane Hoshikawa (Tomohisa Yamashita). Her date is the monk whom she accidentally threw ashes on.
Shinobu Satomi (Tori Matsuzaka) works in the Mobile Investigation Unit of The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. The Mobile Investigation Unit conducts the initial investigation at all crime scenes. He works with Yuki Inokuma (Fumino Kimura). They are a couple, but they keep their relationship a secret at work. They both hope to work at the #1 Investigation Station. One day, they meet beautiful Kara Tachibana at the site where a dead body was found. Kara Tachibana appears at the other crime scenes involving grotesque murders. She shows an interest in Yuki Inokuma. Shinobu Satomi thinks it's a bad sign for Yuki Inouma. To protect his girlfriend from danger, he struggles to find uncover the truth behind the serial murder cases and Kara Tachibana’s identity.
Yusuke Serizawa (Keisuke Koide) works at a law office. He gets into a car accident. A woman helps him and she looks familiar to him, but he doesn't remember who she is. Yusuke Serizawa looks back at his past romances.
Kei (Kazuya Kamenashi) is a contemporary dancer. He keeps taking auditions for foreign dance companies, while working part-time jobs. Although talented, Kei has yet to pass an audition.
One the day he learns has a failed another audition, Kei becomes depressed and feels like he wants to die. He then sees Yui Nishihara (Kyoko Fukada). Kei is captivated by her.
Yui is in her 30's and a teacher at prestigious female high school. She is having an affair with a colleague who has a wife and a child. She isn't happy with her situation. Not knowing that Kei is looking at her, she walks across a passage connecting two buildings at her school.
Makoto (Kyoko Yoshine) transfers to Omotesando High School in Tokyo from Kagawa Prefecture. Makoto was enthusiastic in the chorus back at her old high school and she looks forwards to joining the well-known chorus at Omotesando High School. Additionally, her prior teacher, Ariake Suzuki (Yuu Shirota), is now an advisor of the chorus at Omotesando High School. He taught her the joys of the chorus.
But, the chorus at Omotesando High School is now in decline and is set to be abolished. Makoto decides to rebuild the chorus.
Taro (Joe Odagiri) struggles to keep open a small candy store run by his grandmother, Akiko (Kaoru Yachigusa), and himself. Taro’s parents died when he was young and he was then raised by his grandparents. There are supporters of the small candy store including Taro's neighbor and bath house operator Akira (Kyusaku Shimada) and Taro’s friend Hiroki (Ryo Katsuji). While eating candies, they talk about silly things with Taro.
Taro meets again Reiko (Machiko Ono). She is a childhood friend. After Reiko divorced, she returned with her son to the neighborhood where she grew up.
