Michiko Daimon (Ryoko Yonekura) goes up against Shigekatsu Hiruma (Toshiyuki Nishida). Shigekatsu Hiruma is a new director for the best university hospital in Japan and also bears a deep grudge against Michiko Daimon.
Makoto Tsugano (Keiko Kitagawa) is a medical intern. Recommended by physician Kojin Tsukuba (Ikko Furuya), whom she respects, Makoto Tsugano receives training at a forensics medicine classroom. There, she feels the classroom has a weird atmosphere. Professor Tojiro Kosaki (Kyohei Shibata) leaves the classroom and Makoto is alone in the classroom. She answers a phone call and hears a girl's voice asking "is that the place where autopsies are conducted?" The girl wants an autopsy performed on the body of a woman who died in a car accident. Her father was involved in the car accident. Even though the police conclude that an autopsy is unnecessary, Tojiro Kosaki presses ahead with the autopsy. Makoto doesn't understand Tojiro's excessive ways, but the autopsy reveals a hidden truth.
Kojiro Himuro (Kei Inoo) is a champion figure skater taking part in an upcoming world competition. Yet, he is suffering from a complicated CTEPH (chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension). Kantaro Kurosu (Takeshi Kitano) is the director of the Cross Medical Center. He asks Michiko Daimon (Ryoko Yonekura) to perform surgery on Kojiro Himuro, but, right before his surgery, Michiko Daimon is deprived of “the most important weapon as a surgeon.”
Eisuke Tameyori (Hidetoshi Nishijima) is a middle-aged private practice physician. He has the ability to diagnose someone's condition just by looking at their appearance. He is also able to recognize people who will commit crimes in the future by certain symptoms and tries to prevent them from committing those acts. He meets Detective Junichiro Hayase (Atsushi Ito) and they soon work together to solve cases.
