Mikuri Moriyama (Yui Aragaki) is 25 years old. She doesn't have a boyfriend and doesn't have a job even though she holds a graduate degree. Everyday, Mikuri Moriyama has a feeling that she is not needed. Her father, unable to see her suffering anymore, arranges for her to work as a housekeeper. Her employer is 36 year old Hiramasa Tsuzaki. He is single and works for a company. A series of events leads them to marry as a working condition.
Yoichi Haruno (Hiroshi Tamaki) is 35-years-old and works for a company. His wife, Chisato (Kana Kurashina), is 28-years-old. Before they had a child, their marriage life was easygoing. After having their child, their relationship changes. Yoichi feels that Chisato is cold to him, but he doesn't know why.
Botchan (Kazunari Ninomiya) has sense of strong justice and does not lie. He is offered a teaching job at a middle in a small village far away from his hometown of Tokyo. Botchan accepts the position and begins to work as a math teacher. The assistant principle there wields absolute power. Botchan has a hard time dealing with his fellow teachers and the students.
Sayaka Kudo (Kasumi Arimura) is a 2nd grade high school student. She is a gal who wears miniskirts and has her hair dyed blonde. Even though she is a high school student, her actual academic grade level is on par with 4th grade elementary school students. During the summer, Sayaka attends a private institution. There, she meets Teacher Tsubota. Besides her mother, Teacher Tsubota is the first adult to praise her. Sayaka begins to change. She studies hard and eventually passes an entrance exam for Keio University.
Naho Takamiya (Tao Tsuchiya) is a 2nd year high school student. During the spring, Naho Takamiya receives a letter sent by herself from 10 years in the future. In the letter, she liked transfer student Kakeru Naruse (Kento Yamazaki). Kakeru Naruse carried emotional scars from his mother's suicide and he died one year later. 26-years-old Naho Takamiya thinks about Kakeru Naruse often.
2nd year high school student Naho Takamiya, with the knowledge of what she feels 10 years in the future, takes action to change her future.
Moritaka Mashiro (Takeru Satoh) doesn't want to follow in the path of his uncle who worked as a manga artist, but ultimately died because of exhaustion. Moritaka Mashiro figures he will graduate from school and work at an office. Things change though when falls in love with a girl at school. The girl, who hopes to become a voice actress, tells Moritaka they can marry, but only after they both achieve their dreams. Moritaka then teams up with fellow classmate Akito Takagi (Ryunosuke Kamiki) to publish their first manga.
High school student Jinta (Nijiro Murakami) is a hikikomori and lives in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. One summer day, when Jinta is absorbed in a video game, a girl suddenly appears in front of him. The girl is Jinta's childhood friend Meiko (Minami Hamabe), but it seems impossible because Meiko died on a summer day. Meiko wears the same white dress when she died, but she looks a little taller. She tells Jinta that she has a wish and that's why she came back as a ghost, but Meiko can't remember what her wish was.
To grant Meiko's wish, Jinta along with his friends Atsumu (Jun Shison), Naruko (Airi Matsui), Chiriko (Marie Iitoyo), Tetsudo (Yuta Takahata) and Meiko gather together for the first time in 7 years. Jinta soon realizes that he is the only one able to see Meiko.
Taro (Joe Odagiri) struggles to keep open a small candy store run by his grandmother, Akiko (Kaoru Yachigusa), and himself. Taro’s parents died when he was young and he was then raised by his grandparents. There are supporters of the small candy store including Taro's neighbor and bath house operator Akira (Kyusaku Shimada) and Taro’s friend Hiroki (Ryo Katsuji). While eating candies, they talk about silly things with Taro.
Taro meets again Reiko (Machiko Ono). She is a childhood friend. After Reiko divorced, she returned with her son to the neighborhood where she grew up.
Jun Hashimoto (Ren Kiriyama) is a sci-fi novel writer, but he isn't popular at all. He lives off of his savings. One day, his editor, Tateyama (Masanobu Sakata), assigns him a job. He is to write a short story for a web magazine oriented towards youths. The theme of the short story is "love." Jun Hashimoto at first refuses, because he has never written a love story before, but Tateyama pushes him to write the short story. The deadline is imminent. Jun's childhood friend Keisuke Murata (Shigeaki Kato) then appears in front of him. Jun complains to Keisuke that he can't write a love story. While talking to Keisuke, Jun comes up with an idea and begins to write his love story.
A story of a married couple in short dramas, portraying four unforgettable moments in their lives from their encounter to separation. She (Tokiwa Takako) is the celebrated stage actress of a theatre company and he (Kitamura Kazuki) is a mere person in charge of props, who has secretly burned with love for her for some time. On Christmas eve in 1987, he finally gathers the courage to hand her a slip of paper with his contact details written on it. Observing the bewildered expression on her face, he half gives up and boards the train to go home. However, she is visible from the train window. He sees her standing at the platform looking and smiling at the paper he had passed to her earlier. Love soon blossoms and they get married and have children. They overcome differences and as they near the end of their lives, he makes his wife a last present.
