Kyoko Okitegami (Yui Aragaki) is a private detective. She is known as the Forgetful Private Detective. When she wakes up in the morning, her memory is reset. Due to this, she rigidly adheres to a maintenance secret. No matter what case she has, she has to solve the case in a day. On her body, she has an important note that she must never forget.
Even though Yakusuke Kakushidate (Masaki Okada) has a crush on Kyoko Okitegami, he is alway mistaken as the culprit of a case by Kyoko Okitegami. No matter how close Yakusuke Kakushidate gets to Kyoko Okitegami, she totally forgets about him by the next day.
Daisuke Nagasato (Shingo Katori) is 39-years-old, single and works at a stationary maker. He enjoys his single life. One the day he moves to his new apartment, he meets his neighbour Hanako Kumagai (Juri Ueno) for the first time due to an unpleasant situation. Hanako is 32-years-old and single. She is also an OL and a divorcee.

Yoshikawa Nao stays behind to live by herself when her parents leave to inherit her grandpa's farm in the country. Ren Soda (Kengo Kora) was raised by his grandfather in Fukushima. Hoping that someday he will be able to buyback his grandfather's land and they can work together, he moves to Tokyo and works hard at a moving service.
One morning, Ren finds a letter, which seems important, among his friend's stuff. His friend mentions that he stole it in Hokkaido. Ren is unable to ignore the letter, so he drives to Hokkaido to give the letter to the rightful owner. The owner of the letter is Oto Sugihara. Ren is aware she is being pushed to marry an older man and feels sorry for her. He gives her a ride to Tokyo.
The Hanabishi family moves into the old building "Kogure Photo Studio." The first son Eiichi (Ryunosuke Kamiki) is a 2nd year high school student. One day, a neighbor, who is also a high school student, shows him a picture. That picture was developed at "Kogure Photo Studio."
In the picture, a woman is crying. The person looks more like a spirt than an actual person. Eiichi tries to unveil the secrets of the picture with the help of Nobuko Kakimoto, who works at the real estate office which introduced the "Kogure Photo Studio" to his family. Eiichi also gets his family and friends involved in solving the mysterious puzzle.

The only police officer in the organisation is Saki Kubozuka (Shota Matsuda). His age and nationality is unknown.
